What are we delivering, and when will we deliver it?

To ensure we are accountable to our members, we will publish what we are trying to do and when we ai to deliver it by. If you think anything should be on the roadmap, please get in touch and discuss with us how it relates to the strategy outlined, and how and by when we should be trying to deliver it.

October 2021

New Membership model plans being scoped

Rowing Masterclass series commences - hour long master classes for clubs by clubs on a wide range of topics each month

Resource plans to support delivery identified and approved by the board

Club resources and guides updated and communicated supported by online forums to discuss and share best practice.

Plans to evolve Coastal rowing with community underway

Performance team restructure commenced

New British Rowing CEO process commenced


February 2022

Launch of our GROW programme which recruits coaches to work within identified host clubs, to deliver rowing and develop strong partnerships with schools and community groups to engage with the sport. The programme will be underpinned by a comprehensive M&E project, demonstrating the impact of widening access of rowing to participants, schools and community groups, host clubs, and in growing a more diverse coaching workforce.

Full operational plans to support the new strategy scoped for prioritisation and approval

Recreational rowing survey to all clubs commenced and circulated via the regions

Competitions content sent to racing members on their performances

Masters tips and guides to be live from 21 February

Performance Team restructure finalised.

Media Partnership with Junior Rowing News commences from 21 February highlighting the junior rowing community

March 2022

Appointment of British Rowing CEO complete and communicated

Plans in place and commenced to promote and maximise the opportunity of the 2022 World Rowing Coastal championships to build the coastal rowing community

Recreational Rowing survey findings complete and analysed for key themes

Scope the brief and prepare to apply for the UK Sport National Events Grant in March for support for Senior Championships feasibility study.

Decision on bidding for future major events in the UK to be made


April 2022

Creation of consultation about a dynamic and forward thinking series of BR Championship events that embraces innovation and up to date technology and looks outwards as well as in. (ie. focuses on the spectator as well as the athlete and athlete development aspect of events)

New digital rower development portal to be launched to help coaches and athletes develop at every age and stage


May 2022

Schools and Universities delivery plan for next academic year announced including outreach plans


July 2022

Future competitions calendar in place and future role and time of British senior champs proposed to Board

World Rowing Coastal Championships and Beach Sprint Finals. Our aim is to ​produce a World Class event and disseminate learnings from it to build on BR's international reputation.

BR event portfolio (including National Championships) announced for start of the 2022/23 season
